LCW Survival Project 2009 Pay-Per-View Results 09.06.09

LCW Survival Project 2009 Pay-Per-View Results (September 6, 2009) live from the United Center in Chicago, IL.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to the LCW Survival Project pay-per-view, a 50-man gauntlet tournament to determine the number one contenders for the LCW Universal Championship and the LCW International Championship. Schiavone noted that the pay-per-view, the longest in wrestling history, could potentially last 12 hours depending on the length of the matches. Schiavone then explained the rules: the first two men would enter the ring for their match. Each match has a 15-minute time limit and decisions are determined by pinfall, submission, countout, or disqualification. The winner advances to face the man who drew number three, four, and so on until he's eliminated. If both men in a match are counted out or disqualified, they will both be eliminated. If the 15-minute time limit expires, both men will be eliminated. Schiavone said, "This is the most unpredictable event in professional wrestling as it could last, as we said earlier, an amazing, action packed 12 hours if all matches go the full the 15-minutes." Schiavone announced that the man with the most eliminations at the end of the night would be the number one contender for the LCW International Championship, but the man left standing at the end of the night will be the number one contender for the most prestigious title in Legends Championship Wrestling: the LCW Universal Championship. Zbyszko analyzed the fact that even if a legend manages to eliminate the most men and become the contender for the LCW International Championship, that legend could still lose to number 50 who would be the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship.

In his office, LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway was shown watching the event on a big screen TV with LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin and LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams. From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone reminded everyone that as the defending champions, Austin and Williams would not have to compete in the Survival Project.

When the referee tried to stop him, Bundy threw the referee down to the mat. Jim Powers (#4) came out and started his match with Bundy as Roma rolled outside the ring. Roma grabbed a steel chair, but it only staggered Bundy. With Bundy still on his feet, Powers came off the top rope with a missile dropkick as Roma left the ring and the referee regained consciousness.

Jim Powers (#4) defeated King Kong Bundy (#3) in 0:03 by pinfall after the missile dropkick. After the match, Powers and Roma stared at each other for a moment before Roma extended his hand. During the match, Sullivan came out with Vachon and sent her into the ring to attack Gang while he distracted the referee. At first, Vachon hesitated and Gang asked her what she was doing and Vachon said she was sorry and went to leave the ring as the referee turned around and told her to get out of the ring. Sullivan jumped up on the ring apron and yelled at her and distracted the referee again as Gang turned his attention back to Honky Tonk Man. Vachon dropped down and hit Gang with a low blow. After the match, Sullivan took Vachon from ringside and as he took her away she could be seen with a tear in her eye. From the broadcast booth, Larry Zbyszko said, “The Honky Tonk Man doesn’t have anything to be proud of right now. The Shake, Rattle, and Roll didn’t beat the One Man Gang, a broken heart beat the One Man Gang.”

Bischoff quickly left the ring and Koloff turned his attention to Goldberg and Page, knocking Goldberg over the top rope and out of the ring with a clothesline. Moments later, Magnum hit Page with the belly-to-belly suplex as the referee regained consciousness for the pinfall and the win. After the match, Goldberg and Koloff brawled through the crowd and to the back as Bischoff helped Page up the entrance ramp.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone noted that Page had the elimination record for the night thus far with three eliminations and was, for the moment, the number one contender for the LCW International Championship. Larry Zbyszko noted again that the night was still young and if anyone could break that record it was Magnum TA, who eliminated nine legends in the 2006 Survival Project, the most in that year’s tournament. Zbyszko also noted that in the 2007 Survival Project Magnum eliminated six Legends, getting closer than anyone else to Hogan’s record of seven eliminations that year before going to a 15-minute draw with Big Van Vader. Schiavone also noted that in last year’s Survival Project, Vader eliminated ten Legends, the most in that year’s tournament. Ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta introduced the man who drew #13…Big Van Vader!
