LCW SuperClash 2009 Pay-Per-View live from the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC.

Tonight’s LCW SuperClash 2009 pay-per-view is dedicated in loving memory to Mitsuharu Misawa (1962-2009).

From the broadcast booth, Gary Michael Capetta introduced Michael Buble, who performed “America The Beautiful,” under a spotlight in the ring. The rest of the arena remained dark. Capetta then introduced Green Day who performed “Know Your Enemy” on the entrance stage as video footage from the past several months of action played on the LegendsTron including: the split between the Hart Foundation, the Skyscrapers taking out Doom’s manager Slick, Lanny Poffo attacking his brother, Randy Savage, and pushing his father, Angelo Poffo, to the mat last week on LCW Showdown, and Rick Martel’s feud with Tito Santana. During the performance, much of the stage and set was still unable to be seen. Capetta then introduced Shinedown who performed “Sound of Madness” in the ring as footage of Tommy Rich and Missy Hyatt’s feud with Tully Blanchard and Baby Doll, Dr. Death Steve Williams’ feud with Diamond Dallas Page, Ken Patera’s feud with the Disciples of Allah, the feud between Kevin Sullivan and Paul Orndorff, and the feud for the Unified Tag Team Championship played on the LegendsTron. During the performance, a spotlight was on Shinedown’s lead singer, Brent Smith, and the rest of the band in the ring. While the LegendsTron lit up much of the stage during the performance, as with Green Day’s performance, it was still difficult to see the sides of the stage or the rest of the set. After the performance, classical circus music started playing as the stage was illuminated to reveal an elaborate circus theme complete with men on stilts, jugglers, clowns, and two fire breathers on either side of the stage and a lion in a cage. Capetta welcomed Britney Spears who rose from the center of the entrance stage through a ring of fire in a revealing ringmaster’s costume and performed a hard rock version of her song “Circus.” During her performance, footage from LCW Founder Christian Calaway’s feud with LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner, Stone Cold Steve Austin’s feud with Bill Goldberg, and LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA’s feud with Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen. When Flair first appeared on the LegendsTron, the audience said “Whoo” and cheered so loudly that it drowned out Spears’ performance. At the end of the performance, Spears said, “Welcome to the circus. Ladies and gentlemen, you’re ringmaster, LCW Founder Christian Calaway.” Calaway came out and gave Spears a hug and she handed him her microphone. Calaway said, “Can I put on a show, or can’t I?” The audience cheered and Calaway said, “Tonight, no matter what happens between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bill Goldberg and me and Ted Turner, I want you all to know that the past four years have been the best four years of my life and I want to thank you all for your support, your faith, and your belief in me. Tonight is for all of you, the fans of Legends Championship Wrestling. But tonight is also for the legends of Legends Championship Wrestling because tonight is SuperClash…where legends become legendary!” Spears and Calaway walked to the back together as Circus started playing again as fireworks went off all over the arena. From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to the fifth annual SuperClash as Legends Championship Wrestling celebrates its fourth anniversary. Schiavone said, “I don’t know how we can top that, but we’re certainly going to try.” Schiavone and Zbyszko quickly previewed the complete card one more time and Schiavone said, “Without further ado, let’s send it down to ringside and ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta.”

Ventura pressed Humperdink on what the surprise was, but Humperdink told Ventura that he’d have to wait just like everyone else. I couldn’t have planned this better myself. You see, in two weeks, you will see the final episode of LCW Showdown on my network! You see, sending LCW Founder Christian Calaway out of LCW wasn’t good enough for me. I can’t just destroy him. I have to destroy his creation. He can call himself the founder all he wants to, but if there is nothing left what is he the founder of? Nothing!” After declaring the title vacant, Turner and Bischoff left as the show went off the air.
